Iron & Steel Industry

Iron & Steel Industry

Today, steel is produced by two main industrial production methods. The integrated route utilises iron ore and coal in a blast furnace to produce molten iron which is subsequently transferred to the basic oxygen furnace (BOF) in which it is converted to steel. The second steelmaking route melts scrap steel and/or sponge iron from direct reduction in an electric arc furnace (EAF). SORMAS provides high grade and reliable refractory materials to steel producers for their indispensible needs in the steel productions.

Cement Industry

Cement Industry

Cement is a complex mixture of compounds that they are rich in lime (CaO) which can react with water to give a durable solid. The reactive compounds, mainly calcium disilicate, calcium trisilicate and tricalcium aluminate, so called "clinker", are formed by heating the ingradients to high temperatures and then suddenly cooling. Homegenous mixing and fine grinding of the raw materials are important aspect of the process.

Lime Industry

Lime Industry

Parallel Flow Regenerative lime kilns emphasise big energy savings by quick lime production, in which the hot gases from the burning shaft where it is acting as a regenerator at the same time, enter the non-burning shaft through crossover channel and preheat the raw limestone bed in non-burning shaft and vise-versa in the next burning period. SÖRMAŞ offers comprehensive and reliable refractory lining concepts for the complicated design of PFR kilns.

Glass Industry

Glass Industry

The main materials used in glass making are sand, lime and soda. The main material is sand. Soda is the material that allows the glass to flow at low temperature. Lime increases the resistance to chemical effects in the production of glass. Sand, lime and soda are combined and heated to a certain temperature and melted in special furnaces. By adding chemical materials in certain proportions to these substances, glass productions are completed according to the places of use.
